First Day of Home Preschool, Age 2 1/2!

Before she woke up, I read my devotional and it was perfect for today! I definitely have learned about building a house - a physical one as well as a spiritual one - and I've learned about storms and the firm Rock which is Christ Himself.

As you learn these lessons, you are to teach them to others. I will open up the way before you, one. step. at. a. time. ~ Jesus Calling

Each morning during breakfast I try to read a few verses from one chapter of Psalms and one from Proverbs. Today is August 8th so I read Chapter 8 from each and they both fit perfectly for the first day of school - one about wisdom and the other about creation, which was our topic of the day. :)

Jelly face: This is how our day started. :)

I don't know why she never looks at the camera, but she's cute and growing!! 34 1/2 inches!

She was a little frustrated with the magnets not sticking so well but she did get just trying again. I will have to figure something else out for those...

I basically just explained what the calendar was and how it's used...to tell what day it is and what things we need to get done that day, etc. She will get to add a new number each day. We are also going to start counting down to her birthday!

Then we went over to our other magnetic calendar since she is familiar with this one. It's Melissa & Doug... She insisted on adding that today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day lol I also told her we have a playdate with her cousin. : )

She would just sit here and play with this calendar all day long. She wanted to "organize" everything, she said, so I let her place everything in rows like she wanted. :)

Counting 100 days of school using star stickers during "Calendar/Circle Time"

Later I asked her what her favorite part of school today was and she said, "Painting!" She wanted to paint a tree like I did, so we are going to use her tree for adding our fruit of the spirit. Today we added Gentle Grapefruit and Goodness Grapes to our tree.

I'm trying to start a student/portfolio notebook that has all of her coloring sheets, her letters (example: a B that looks like a bunny), etc. So here she is coloring the first sheet of our creation portion of the notebook.

She happened to notice on her own, that I had added the story cards for ABC Bunny. She was frustrated that she couldn't fit them all in one line. :)

She's pretty thrilled that she can "read."

Then after that we took a letter for insurance to the mailbox and listened to a bird on the way back! Then we happened to see Nana, so she got to play for a little bit. They played tee-ball and went on the swingset and even got to play in the rain! After that, she got to go play with her cousin! There we read ABC Bunny, and we sang the ABC Bunny song from YouTube. We also happened to watch/come across a DVD The Legend of the Three Trees and it happened to go along with our creation theme.

Oh, right before we left the house to go see her cousin, she played in the rabbit sensory bin. We "hid" the paper bunny under the popcorn kernals and under the plastic eggs. We pretended the bunny was eating carrots. We scooped and poured...

It was a busy day but a good day! I still can't decide (at 11pm) if we'll do school again tomorrow or if we will wait until next week. I don't know if we will do one or two days per week. One of the days is Bible study, so that counts as one school day since they really do learn in there! :)  I could not have asked for a better first day of preschool! I hope she enjoyed it as much as I did. :)

Love is Rebuilding

From the ashes
Beauty rises
Like the morning star
and everything has come to life

In the wreckage...
Waking to a wonder unexpected
From this ruin
comes new life

From these remains
Your kingdom shall be raised
Your love is rebuilding us

Blooming,
radiant the colors of salvation,
falling on our shame and sin

Hope renewing
as everything we are becomes your glory
All things return to you again
Return to you again

From these remains
Your kingdom shall be raised
Your love is rebuilding us

From these broken lives
We see that city rise
Your love is rebuilding us

So we don't have to be afraid
of the wrecking ball, the burning flame

From our broken lives
We see your glory rise
Your love is rebuilding us
Your love is rebuilding us

From these remains
Your kingdom shall be raised
Your love is rebuilding us

House of Their Dreams/Build Your House

"And on this Rock, we will build
On this Rock, we will build
The house of our dreams"

---

With fervent love You came, reviving sin-dead lives
Making us one in grace alive in Christ
So come and purify us, You’ve come to unify
O let Your heart revive us, washing Your bride

One faith, one Church, one Father
One King above us all
God make us one as You are one

Right here the ground is even, right here the colors show
Increase the love between us, so that the world would know

One faith, one Church, one Father

One King above us all
God make us one as You are one

This is the love that makes us one
You unsealed grace and poured out love
And so with a dream we’re asking;
Build Your house, let the walls come down
Won’t you build your house let the walls come down
Build your house let the walls come down

What If Every Tear You Cry Will Seed the Ground Where Joy Will Grow

The hurt that broke your heart
And left you trembling in the dark
Feeling lost and alone
Will tell you hope's a lie
But what if every tear you cry
Will seed the ground where joy will grow

And nothing is wasted
Nothing is wasted
In the hands of our Redeemer
Nothing is wasted

It's from the deepest wounds
That beauty finds a place to bloom
And you will see before the end
That every broken piece is
Gathered in the heart of Jesus
And what's lost will be found again

Nothing is wasted
Nothing is wasted
In the hands of our Redeemer
Nothing is wasted

From the ruins
From the ashes
Beauty will rise
From the wreckage
From the darkness
Glory will shine
Glory will shine

Nothing is wasted
Nothing is wasted
In the hands of our Redeemer
Nothing is wasted

From the ruins
From the ashes
Beauty will rise
From the wreckage
From the darkness
Glory will shine
Glory will shine

So We Build

It's bigger than we thought
It's taller than it oughta be
This pile of rubble and ruins
The neighbors must talk
It's the worst yard on the block
Just branches and boards
Where walls stood

Did it seem to you
Like the storm just knew
We weren't quite finished with the roof
When it started?

So we build
We build
We clear away what was
And make room for what will be
If you'll hold the nails, I'll take the hammer
I'll hold it still, if you'll climb the ladder
If you will, then I will build

On any given day
We could simply walk away
And let someone else hold the pieces
The lie that we tell
Says that it's better somewhere else
As if love flies south when it freezes

What I'm tryin' to say
In some clumsy way is that
It's you and only you for always

That's why we build
We build
We clear away what was
And make room for what will be
If you'll hold the nails, I'll take the hammer
I'll hold it still if you'll climb the ladder
If you will, then I will build

What I'm tryin' to say
In some clumsy way is that
It's you and only you for always
Not just for now, not just today
But it's you and only you
For always

So if you hold the nails, I'll take the hammer
I'll hold it still if you'll climb the ladder
And if you will, then I will build

The House That Built Me

i know they say you can't go home again.
i just had to come back one last time.
ma'am I know you don't know me from Adam.
but these handprints on the front steps are mine.
and up those stairs, in that little back bedroom
is where I did my homework and I learned to play guitar.
and I bet you didn't know under that live oak
my favorite dog is buried in the yard.

i thought if I could touch this place or feel it
this brokenness inside me might start healing.
out here its like I'm someone else,
i thought that maybe I could find myself
if I could just come in I swear I'll leave.
won't take nothing but a memory
from the house that built me.

mama cut out pictures of houses for years.
from 'Better Homes and Garden' magazines.
plans were drawn, concrete poured,
and nail by nail and board by board
daddy gave life to mama's dream.

i thought if I could touch this place or feel it
this brokenness inside me might start healing.
out here its like I'm someone else,
i thought that maybe I could find myself.
if I could just come in I swear I'll leave.
won't take nothing but a memory
from the house that built me.

you leave home, you move on and you do the best you can.
i got lost in this whole world and forgot who I am.

i thought if I could touch this place or feel it
this brokenness inside me might start healing.
out here its like I'm someone else,
i thought that maybe I could find myself.
if I could walk around I swear I'll leave.
won't take nothing but a memory
from the house that built me.

This House

it took me by surprise
this old house and these old feelings
walked round and looked inside
familiar walls and halls and ceilings
where I'd dream and plan
every moment of sunshine
this was my whole world
it was all I knew.
like the hull of a seed
this old house cracked wide open
as I grew.

hadn't given it much thought
hadn't been back here for a while
everything looks so small
seen through the memories of a child
who would dream and stare
from that second story window
that was my whole world
it was all I knew.
like the hull the of a seed
this old house cracked wide open
and I flew
sad, fruitful, broken, true.
sad, fruitful, broken, true.

memories for miles and miles
summers falls winters and springs
You take it in
See, He's withheld no good thing
